Now, I want to see if I can move to Samba 3.x as I need PAM
authentication.
Samba 2.x can do PAM authentication - see my SHARE charts on Samba.
If you want to go to Samba 3, I'd recommend SLES9.
You can build Samba 3 manually on SLES8, but it's a bit of work and I'm
not sure it is worth
John,
I cannot use NFS, Samba, netcat, ... . Well, the remote
system is a Windows system.
Why can't you use SMB to a Windows system?
This places my report directly on the Windows server.
Yup, SMB does that.

Is there any way to do this?
script
Type script - do your stuff - type exit and the file typescript is
created.

The single VSWITCH solution requires that both OSA's are in the same
subnet,
right? And hence the same gateway?
Yes
Must be some more limitations I can think
of (Multipath workload balancing I already mentioned)
I can't think of any, but I'll defer to the networking gurus on the list.
Mike
If you have two OSA cards why would you want to use VSWITCH High
Availability rather than a full network High Availability solution?
Because it's a *lot* easier to configure?

Ranga,
We need to install Samba and
join that with Active Directory, which requires Kerberos and Open LDAP.
We have a problem installing TLS certificate.
Anyone travelled this road before?
Only briefly, but I did discover that the install process has added the
ability to create certificates
Ken,
Did anyone else have trouble with the ISO images?
Yeah I did on CDs 1, 2 and 5. I copied and pasted together an md5sum file
(it seems there must be exactly two spaces between the checksum and the
file name). This is strange:
# ls -l *.iso

Does the cmsfs package (1.1.8) build on the 2.6 kernel (SLES9)? I got an
error from ./configure:
cmsfssed.sh: this release of Linux is not supported!
Thanks.

For LINUX-390
Edit cmsfs-1.1.8/cmsfssed.sh and add 2.6* to the list of valid kernels
(~ line 90)
We did that which allowed configure to run, but make modules failed to
find a lock.h file.
It does seem the executables on ftp://ftp.bmc.com/pub/cmsfs/Linux-s390/
work.
Thanks.
Where is that package from?
