I've grep'ed the kernel source (2.4.7-ac3 which I happened to have sitting on my R/390) and found conmode= as a kernel parm (/usr/src/linux/arch/s390/kernel/setup.c). I assume that support is there in later kernels. I think the last time we discussed this on the list the thoughts were to have def
