I started to upgrade from 2.3.3_1 to 2.3.4_1 today and as instructed by the
docs I uninstalled Suricata and PFBlockerNG first. I immediately got a flood
of alerts like "Unresolvable source alias 'pfB_GeoIPUSv4' for rule ...". Those
are of course popular packages. Do you all normally uninstall

Unless I am mistaken, upgrading postfix and mailscanner from 2.1.5 is
not possible because of the pbi configuration. I needed to remove them
and then use pkg to install them and then adjust

This is about the WRAP, not the ALIX. The WRAP won't boot those images

I think you can just go into System -> Firmware
and do a Manual Update.
I did it 7 days 02 hrs 56 mins ago and it is pretty intuitive
It takes a long time to update (maybe 30+ minutes for my Alix board),
but it is done all over the Internet. Click a couple of times and then wait.
