I have attached a sample file.
The problem is explained within, but to precis:
1. I want roman numeral numbering up to the TOC, thereafter I want
normal numbering.
2. I want the SECTIONs to not be numbered, but to appear in the TOC

I just figured out by chance that it is possible to make the name of a
CharStyle disappear in an assignment by right clicking on the affected
word.
This is pretty nice, as I find the extra space taken by the CharStyle
names quite disturbing in the on-screen layout of may text. (I use a

Generate SVG and use inkscape to generate the Postscript (via command
line).
Or generate XML and use Passepartout's typesetting engine xml2ps to

I have a toc that varies as I add and remove subsections. I want the
final output to have Chapter one begin on a recto (right hand) page.
I am using memoir, and I don't know how to tell the toc to ensure it

I don´t know what is Beamer but with titlesec package
you can get several kinds of titles for chapter,
section, subsection, etc., included framed
