Paul I'm using 1.6.2, on Ubuntu 9.04 and none of the margin/page controls are greyed out, so I can already adjust paper type/size and margins in article (beamer) as in any article. It was just that these then needed set back to "default" when switching back t Beamer. Strange isn't it.
