Dear Lyx users,
I'm stressed by time (lack of it) because I need to write my thesis. However,
due to the fact that Lyx produces nice quality documents I really want to do
this. I'm new to Lyx and I therefore don't want to fiddle with too low level
details.
My thesis will be simple, a fron

It depends whether you esteem elegant look of your document... however I
would not expect fireworks with graphics from OpenOffice...

If you want your chapters to start a new page, use book. Else, use report. I'd
recommend KOMA book/report, since it comes with sensible default, but is
nevertheless very flexible, if you need it.

at useful things, and it would be

Unfortunately I can only echo Manveru, Excel and OOo graphs are not the
way to go. But if you're in a hurry, it should be fine; just beware of
bitmap graphics. Personally I prefer R.

I also, couldn't agree more. I tend to hide my modifications as new
document classes ... but front-matter should be finger painted. After
that, though, I don't want to see or think about ERT.

Since this discussion is turning to matters of taste, what do you think
about the font choices? The default font is obviously dated, if
elegant.
What do you people use?

how to config LyX to make it open all documents at start up which were
opened at last shut down? I think this could be done with one of the last
versions, but now it does not do it anymore on my machine.
Using LyX 1.6.7 on WinVista.

Best wishes,
