question: a way of tying paragraphs together

2007-08-23 Thread killermike
Is there a way of tying two paragraphs together in Lyx? That is, assuring that the page will not be broken at a certain point. For example, I quite often have something along the lines of "Consider this example:" followed by a new paragraph that uses the quote environment. --

Shaded wrapable text boxes?

2009-11-13 Thread killermike
Hi guys What is the current thinking on the best way to create a shaded text box that the main body text will wrap around? I'm trying to create something similar to the "tip boxes" that you see in some books. Preferably I'd like the boxes to automatically break if they hit the end of the page.

Module hacking advice - nested environments and shaded boxes

2009-11-30 Thread killermike
Hi all I've had a go at creating a module. Even though I don't know what I'm doing, I seem to have got something that nearly works. The purpose of the module is to create a GUI way of applying grey boxes around text (making use of the "framed" pacakge). Two question: First, is it possible to

lyx 1.4.x performance

2006-10-10 Thread killermike
Like a few other people, I am having performance problems with Lyx 1.4.3. I started using it about a month ago and I really like the Lyx method of working. I would appreciate any tips that anyone on the list can offer. 1.3.7 (installed using the Ubuntu package management) works fine.
