pdf version error with lyx-2.4devel

[Neal Becker]

Trying to run lualatex.  An included graphic was produced by pdfcrop
 pdfcrop --version
pdfcrop 2020/06/06 v1.40

I get no pdf file, I think the problem comes from this:

It could be your used bib-file having latin9 chars.
(In case you use one of course)

As Paul suggested, I will try to make a diff of the original file (it 
is in my backups) and see if there is something weird hanging around. 
Nevertheless, it is a headache just to think that this might happen in 
a moment of need.

Julio,

Rather than futzing seeking the source consider this: change
encoding to
UTF-8. Open on you Mac. Save it. Open it again and check the
encoding and
whether this resolved the issue.

Again, this is a document that I have used for at least a couple of 
years in its current state. Only minor changes have been made. When I 
manually changed the encoding to UTF-8, it worked flawlessly. I tried 
opening other Beamer files that I have not opened in Windows and they 
even work without changing the encoding.


I think something bad happened while working on my file in Windows 
that has permanently damaged it. I hope this is not something that can 
break down the workflow for the ones who work in different OS´s.

Is the logo PNG file in the same directory as the LyX file? If
not, have you tried specifying the path to it?

If by any chance you kept the original Mac version (did not overwrite it 
with the version saved on Windows), you could diff the two LyX files to 
find the offending character.


Other than having a different idea about what an end-of-line character 
should be, I don't recall Windows mucking up characters on its own. If 
you paste in something copied from, say, a PDF (where there are 
ligatures) or maybe type something like an accented letter while 
editing, maybe that could be the source of the problem?

Please always specify that you mean 2.3.0alpha1-1 (or a custom-compiled
2.3.0dev), because the final release of 2.3.0 will be significantly
different.

Your arabic .lyx file that you attached is in 2.3.0alpha1-1 format. So I
cannot test with 2.2.x. I exported to 2.2.x format but when I did that
and compiled with 2.2.x it worked the same as with 2.3.0alpha1-1. Can
you send the 2.2.x format version that compiles correctly with 2.2.x but
that does not compile correctly with 2.3.0alpha1-1?

Also, when you say "upgrade" above, it makes me think that you are using
2.3.0alpha1-1 as your only LyX version, which makes me a little nervous
since it is a development version intended only for testing (I'm sorry
for not making this clear in the announcement).

Subject: [PATCH] Fix regression of 88603655

The XHTML entries were added in the wrong field, if they are given we need
extra xhtml requires. The order is inconsistent, there are discussions on the
list about that but for now I'll use the existing order to fix the export tests.

The format of the lib/symbols file does not support "" for empty strings.
One would have to use x for fields that are not set (this is a hack), but
actually we know how to fill the extra field.

You found a bug. I tried with lyx2.2, it is reproducible. Lyx2.3dev works fine 
again though.

I just type \coloneqq in a math inset in LyX 2.2.2 and LyX recognized it 
(but pdflatex bombed on it with the same error you saw). So I went to 
Document > Settings > Math Options and changed "mathtools" from  "Load 
automatically" to "Load always", and the document compiled. Maybe LyX 
lost the ability to recognized that \coloneqq requires mathtools (or one 
of a few other packages)?

Then I suggest a complete restart:

1. uninstall LyX _completely_ (including the user preferences)
2. uninstall MiKTeX _completely_ (use the "tidy up thoroughly" option)
3. check the Windows registry that there are no traces of LyX and MiKTeX
4. reinstall MiKTeX using the latest installer:
 http://mirrors.ctan.org/systems/win32/miktex/setup/basic-miktex-2.9.5872.exe
5. open an Internet connection
6. reinstall LyX using the latest installer:
http://ftp.lyx.de/LyX%202.1.4/LyX-214-Installer-5.exe

This should work.

What should I have to do?




Reconfigure failed.

Massage: The system reconfiguration has failed. Default textclass is used but 
LyX may not be able to work properly. Please reconfigure again if needed.



In my opinion, the LyX doesn’t catch the Mitex with configuration error. And, I 
was trying to figure it out with compiling python, but I failed.



Still need some help.

That is the problem. In this stage lyx is collecting some info from your system.

Therefore we have to find a solution for this first.

when I use an article,

I got a following message:


he selected document class (Article) requires external files that are not 
available. The document class can still be used, but the document cannot be 
compiled until the following prerequisites are installed: article.cls


And I cannot reconfigure.


Can you help me out?

My texworks(Miktex) works properly.

There is a missing support package:

You should install the package containing amstext.sty via you LaTeX or Linux

There is a missing support package:

But I don't know how I supposed to use it.

1. To set enumerate-resume only to parent levels where I need resuming.

In this case to set the nested sublevels to normal enumerate.



2. To set everything, including the nested sublevels, to enumerate-resume.

I tried both and both worked.


Still I am curious if I can change in the local layout the end of

an environment; e.g to change \end{enumerate}  to 

\end{enumerate} \seti. Is is possible?

Should be  \seti\end{enumerate}, shouldn't it?.

Not with LyX's means. You need to use, as I have done, the package etoolbox, 
which provides the hook \AtEndEnvironment.

But note that you will run into the same problems with nested lists with your 
approach.

Not with LyX's means. You need to use, as I have done, the package etoolbox, 
which provides the hook \AtEndEnvironment.

But note that you will run into the same problems with nested lists with your 
approach.

Yes, that's what I meant when I said that I have not dealt yet with nested 
enumerations. Nested enumerations disturbed the resume counter.

It works.

But I don't know how I supposed to use it.

1. To set enumerate-resume only to parent levels where I need resuming.

In this case to set the nested sublevels to normal enumerate.



2. To set everything, including the nested sublevels, to enumerate-resume.

I tried both and both worked.


Still I am curious if I can change in the local layout the end of

an environment; e.g to change "\end{enumerate}"  to 

"\end{enumerate} \seti". Is is possible?

Should be " \seti\end{enumerate}", shouldn't it?.

I just described this because there might be other methods to make such

documents than I tried to do so far.

module (selected in lyx modules window, as customisable lists) in lyx 2.0.6.

When I insert enumerated lists and set the second and following lists to resume 
lyx can not compile the document. It gives error:

! Package xkeyval Error: `resume*' undefined in families `enumitem'.

The package versions I have reported by lyx/latex log:

Long answer: compile lyx file = export to pdf. It gives error message and does 
not produce pdf output (using ps2pdf).

I have two questions. 

1. The code inserted as local layout does override/replace the code specified 
in enumitem module?

2. Loosely related. I tried powerdot because enumitem does not work with 
beamer. And beamer even starts numbering enumerate list from 1 in every new 
frame/slide. If I could resume enumeration in beamer I would prefer to use 
beamer.

Yes.

Beamer and enumitem are incompatible. You can resume manually or with some 
LaTeX trickery, see e.g.

From the top of my head, problems with turkish include

1/ in Turkish locale, `I' is not the uppercase of `i', because dotted 
and dotless versions of this letter exist.


2/ there is a common problem with babel due to the fact that the = 
character is made active. This breaks in particular the keyval package.
