What I do for long documents is to split it by chapter into child documents which (may) include a .tex file where I can do a lot of things including conditionals. I can then compile those also individually if I have an issue which then makes "bisecting" it down to the error (or an MWE) easier.

Hello, I still have this continuous issue that if I have a first document .lyx file open and that I want to open another complex lyx file. It just crashes! SIGSEGV signal caught! It starting to really bother me! Thank.
