It is diff-able (just look at it, it is plain text), but we do not
have the tools to display the diffs in the interface.

features in LyX work? Especially merging?

my change tracking does not appear in output. i exported DVI, and ran dvips,
however, it complains:
dvips: Could not find figure file dvipost:; continuing
dvips is installed on the box, but lyx/dvips is apparently not aware of
this.
what can i do?

Sure you can. Document->Change Tracking->Merge Changes.
