Interesting this one, the only way I know of is to remember where you
got the iPhone from. If it's from a carrier chances are it will be
locked. If it's from Apple or some other reseller then chances are
unlocked but depending on retailer it could be locked as well.

I just looked at the site. what they don't say is the iPhone app cost 4.99
whilst the mac app looks to be free.
