Harry, I got the Canon G12 as a Christmas gift. It's a very nice point-and-shoot that isn't a shirt-pocket camera, and actually has enough heft to feel like a real camera. Also, it has a viewfinder, which allows you to take many more shots on one battery charge than if you use the LCD screen.

Nora, I have seen the behavior you describe fixed many times by simply replacing the router. If it's the DSL modem then your ISP will replace it. They can dial into it to tell if it's working correctly. If it is, then it's your router. You can get cheap N routers for less than $50 these days
