Your G5 iMac will run up to 10.5.whatever, mine has it and runs perfectly... If you can borrow a copy of 10.5 you can install it, or Apple, MacAuthority will be glad to sell you a copy... You also might check Amazon, sometimes they heavily discount older os' John On Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 10:25

Ed -- Thanks for your response. Actually, I have a newer MacBook; I'm hoping to get this new iTouch working on the iMac for my niece. I'm finding that the 10.5.x disk is pretty expensive. Amazon has it for $130. I haven't been able to find it online any cheaper. If I hadn't already

Sandy: I am running a G5 Mac on system 10.5.8 and it works well, but when I switched systems I was forced to buy or update a lot of solfware. Some, like Photoshop, would not work any longer, so I no longer have that expensive program. When I switched systems, I had some other work done,

Neal -- That's very generous of you to offer your disk. I would be willing to drive out to borrow it, and purchase a replacement if something were to happen to it, but if the os disk is Tiger, it won't work for me. Tiger is 10.4.x, which I'm currently running. I need 10.5.x, which is
