I agree that captchas are not a very good solution, though there are not really many viable alternatives out there. Some places make you do a simple math problem, like 3 + 4 or something like that, but if a bot knows the nature of the captcha requested, it could easily perform any math asked

Dunno about the Seratec Network but I know a lot of folks use the ClicktoFlash plugin to block flash from loading on pages. Seems to speed things up quite a bit. Then if you really do want Flash to load you can tell it to allow flash to load on that page. I don't know of anything that only

If you don't want to install an extension, there's another way, I use this method. Unless you know you're going to be using flash, uncheck the option under security to enable plug ins, this makes pages load much faster. Then, if something requires flash, enable plug ins and refresh the page.
