Try this, and see if it helps….
Disconnect the iPhone from your iMac.
Unlock the iPhone, and reconnect to the iMac with the iPhone unlocked.
You should get the "Do you trust this computer" prompt after reconnecting with
the iPhone unlocked.

Hello,
I am running the latest IOS 17 on my iPhone 15 and the latest Ventura on my
2017 iMac.
I connect the iPhone to the iMac via a cable with USB C at each end. On the
iMac I go to Finder and then Sidebar and then choose the iPhone and General
where I see that the iPhone was backed up

For me, I use WhatsApp only on my iPhone. If I need to share something via
WhatsApp from Mac OS, I just copy it on Mac and paste on iPhone. I can also do
the other way around.

Thanks Jason. It's nice to read that I can't really delete the app
library after all. However, I can't figure how to take their remedial
steps, e.g. how to press and hold an empty area on screen or to tap on a
circle.
Perhaps this warrants a call to Apple's accessibility support.

2. Enabled add to home screen and app library in Settings.
3. Reinstalled the app.
That wasn't that hard. Easier than a factory reset!
