upgrading ram?
I've heard good things about crucial.com. And went there yesterday to price some ram, mine Imac came with 4 gigs of ram, but is expandable to 16 gigs. I can get the editional 12 gigs for only 120 bucks. Considering what I've seen in the apple store, and best buy doesn't even carry what I need, I think I'm going to jump on this. Plust it comes with a life time worentee.. And if your not sure what your macbook pro or imac takes, it will safely scan your system and tell you. Doesn't get much better than that. Re: broadcast dj software!
Hi and thanks for the suggestion. I've now downloaded and had a quick first glance at the software. They are 99% there, because the keyboard managing is very good, however there are lots of unknowns, some of which can be interacted with, revealing a lot of controls that you can manipulate and others that you can't do a thing with. Unfortunately it seems that all the sliders are defined in a non-standard way, causing VO to announce them as unknown and you can't manage them with the keyboard in the default configuration, however there's a page in the preferences named keyboard setup where i assume you can set up verious keyboard related aspects of the program, and maybe you can do things there. There is a visual button to edit effects, but the effects themselves and their controls can't be edited as far as i can see, might take a bit of fiddling around to see how that works. A couple tweaks here and there, and i think this will be a good alternative to DJay. One thing i noticed, however was that the keyboard shortcuts in Zulu seems much more logical than in DJay. For example, increase volume by hitting v and decrease it by pressing shift+v. If other people have other things to report about this software, please do so. /Krister 16 jun 2011 kl. 01.47 skrev Colin M: Hi all! This was posted on another list! Re: anyone fooled with the new Amadeus Pro II yet?
The big question is this: Have they as of yet implemented tha much needed scrub feature? The one where you audibly can search to places where you want to set start/stop points for editing? I really hope they have, since otherwise i don't think it's worth upgrading. /Krister 16 jun 2011 kl. 06.08 skrev Ray Foret Jr: Subject line says it all. It would appear that you can now do track editing in a way not possible before. Multiband noise reduction is now claimed for it. Re: anyone fooled with the new Amadeus Pro II yet?
I don't quite understand what you mean. I've alwys been able to easily find the places I want to edit to cut things out or drop things in. The process of editing, so far as I can tell, seems to be the same as before. The trem silence still seems not to work; but, I love the new way you do voice over insertion. It's a very simple dialog box now in the paste special section. The fact that the video now gets preserved in the editing of .mov files alone makes this upgrade worth the cost. Re: anyone fooled with the new Amadeus Pro II yet?
What i mean is that when i go back or forward through a file with the cursors or whatever method i prefer other than playing, i want to audibly be able to hear where i am, much like on a reel to reel tape recorder with cuing, where you could precition edit by using sound to get to where you want to set a starting point and then go to where you want to set an ending point in that same manner. It's to time consuming to go find a button to double or half the playback speed, and btw this isn't the same thing as i want. Re: anyone fooled with the new Amadeus Pro II yet?
But, Christer, IF you mean what I think you do, I just use the regular arrow keys to instantly find the spot where I want to drop in a pece of audio. then, I set a marker there. Then, I move to where I want the selection to end. Then, just press command+y to rout the insertion point to the playback head. At that point, you just press command+left to select back to the previous marker which will be the marker at the beginning of the selection. Now, of course, it would be much faster, in my opinion, if they would set it up so that the insertion point tracks the playback head and you could use the left and right bracket keys to drop beginning and ending markers. Also, another thing I'd like to see is the ability to move to a marker and delete that marker without having to go in to the modify markers manu. Still, not a bad editor. As for a blind person not being able to shoot a video, PLEASE, I do it all the time. If you know where the action is you want to shoot, and, you know where your camera lens is, well, you can do it. Almost the same thing as knowing where your mouth is and how to feed yourself. You just apply the same idea a little differently. Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!! Another option is for her to go to www.apple.com/macosx and look for the latest combo update, as sometimes an update is too large for Software Update to handle, causing failure. Egun On, Lagunak! Re: Time update on network
The MacOs has the standard UNIX suite of commands. ntpdate - set the date from an NTP server. ntpd - run an NTP server (requires a config file to list NTP peers to use Also if you use ntpd you should ensure it gets autostarted via launch or rc init files. ntpdc and ntpq - commands to query and control ntp daemons both locally and remotely. I use to run ntpdc status 127.0.0.1 on login each morning to ensure my Network of time peers were all behaving. Re: junk mail
Are you having issues? First of all there is not always a junk folder. By default the Mac just puts a flag indicating the message is junk, but leaves it in the inbox. However if you enabled the junk folder in your preferences then command-6 should open the folder. Note: however that GMAIL has a SPAM folder which is not (by default) linked to your Junk folder on the Mac. If you want them linked which might get confusing since both hte Mac and Google can put items in the folder and learn correctly or incorrectly from each other what to expect as Junk. So if the previous sentence makes sense and you do want to link Google's SPAM with Mail's junk then do the following. 1. Find the SPAM folder and select it. 2. from the Mailbox menu find Use this mailbox for and select junk. After you do this there might be a new folder in your google account with the messages you had marked as spam. It is also possible that the Mailbox behavior section of the account preferences has an option dealing with local/remote storing of junk. braille note apex
I can't remember which of these list I heard it on, but did someone say once they got their Apex pared with the IPhone, if so, mind telling me how? I'm getting one soon and would like to have the steps before hand. Also, does it work with the mac to if you're able to pare it with the IPhone? the meetup.org site?
I am wondering how folks are doing with this site from a voiceover /browser standpoint? resetting password on my mac?
Okay, when I first set up my mac, it asked me for a password. Thought I would never need it, but today I checked for software updates. And after finding some, it wants the administrator password, that I can't remember. Is there an easy way around this? Can I just turn off the password prompt and install the updates? Or do I have to reset the password witch I probably should do for future reference. Thanks in advance. Cheree Heppe here: I get regular announcements from MeetUp. I am not having difficulty following the text of these or anything. Re: the meetup.org site?
I am not speaking of announcements, such is why I referenced the site itself. can you comment RSVP add areas of interest etc.? Amazon Web Store?
Hi, I just got an Amazon Web Store. However, I have found that a lot of it is inaccessible with Voiceover. Does anyone have any tips for using it more successfully? I'm hoping they have some kind of API so I can develop my own interface with it, but who knows. It's kind of frustrating.
