I can sort of compare the brailliant to the focus. I've never actually seen a focus display, but I can definitely tell you that the Brailliant is much quieter - the focus uses the same sells as the PAC mate display, which is very noisy. The build quality is also better - aluminium body VS

Hi Amy, I haven't followed this thread closely, so my apologies if this has already been covered. Part of the difficulty in what you are asking is that to a large extent, this is a very subjective choice. What bothers me may not bother you. What you consider noisy, I may not. So it's

Hi there I just bought a 14-cell display because you don't always need the 40 cells when using a computer. You can switch back and forth, depending on the activity you are doing and whether it benefits you to carry less bulk at times. The iPad and that little display together would give you a

Hi Aimee, having designed one of the family of displays you're looking at, I'd obviously have a preference. :) Some of the comment you're getting clearly do not refer to the latest Focus displays since they have referred to whiz wheels, a feature not on the new products. The thing I would say

I think it's also important to remember that there has been downward pressure on Braille display prices over the last decade. In 2004, you'd be looking at at least $5,000 USD for a 40 cell display. Manufacturing processes have improved and you can now get a 40 cell display for $2800 USD. I

Hi there I had an 80 cell display at work using JAWS. I did not like the thing because of the weight and size. I even prefer the smaller ones for looking at a screen, even when the screen line is bigger. I think they cost about 7 grand, so personally I wouldn't want an 80 cell display unless I
