Yes, it has the ribbon. Currently you need a 365 subscription if you want the somewhat accessible version, though a box version might be coming out later in the year which you can buy outright. Office for Mac 2011 is available for purchase outright, but is not accessible at all. I’ve found

Hello Eileen, The beta still works but you have to download the updater and update the applications regularly. It seems that every time I open Word, the updater kicks in and downloads a new version. The whole process was explained here a while ago but I don’t seem to have kept the message.
