Hi,
I've been using MapInfo for 2 years in earth science applications.
The question that people frequently asked me is that what is the
reason you choose MapInfo GIS system. It's hard for me to explain
and persuade people to think the same way if I got no powerful evidence.
So, my question is

Hello Everyone,
Can you guys help me with saving maps as *jpgs, *.pgn...etc? I am using
"save windows as" to save the layout but the images are fuzzy seem

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have about 250 maps to

Peter,
In Vertical Mapper the slope for a grid node is calculated by averaging the
slopes of the eight triangle faces that are formed from the surrounding
nodes. The average is taken so that the resulting slope value is not overly
influenced by "flyers" in the dataset. I hope this helps.
Aaron,
The distortion that your are describing is the result of the grid being in a
projection that uses longitude and latitude as its coordinate units. The
source of the distortion is that in these projection systems the distance in
the X direction is different than it is in the Y direction

I am trying to get an old Intergraph table working with MapInfo 3.0.5.
The only driver avalable is the 16 bit Wintab. I have the table working, but the ini
settings are not quite correct for MapInfo to reconize the Wintab.
I was wondering if anyone remembers how to configure the win.ini, or the
We have "average" plus other kinds of slope...

a plane fitted through the values of the target cell and its
eight neighbors.

Melinda,
Did you think about MapXsite or MapXtreme solutions to put your maps on the
web? You could have a program to do the transfer for you and should not lose
graphical quality...

I had a similar problem a few years ago. The root problem, I believe is HP's
drivers for inkjets: I was using a Deskjet 550C. I solved the problem in 2
ways...
1. The TIFFs had been scanned in with a HP Deskscan as compressed. BUT
Paintshop Pro identified the format as PACKBITS-compressed rather
To my knowledge georeg will not register this. You can however register it
with a program like worldreg which uses the .tfw file. You can find that on
the directionsmag tools site and it is a free version. The only thing you
need to tell it is what projection to use (Since that is not a part

do this? Thanks in advance and have a great day!

This seems to be a problem of a more general nature (BUG ?)
which has to do with the way a map in longitude / latitude projection
is displayed in MapInfo (actually this should be a plat-carre projection :
