Dear MCN Colleagues,
After 21 years at MoMA I have decided to take advantage of the museum's

I am excited about my next projects, which include more fully dedicating
myself to my ongoing photographic practice
Dear Colleagues,

and research among imaging scientists, project managers, archivists,
photographers, technicians and those responsible for
MoMA's Department of Imaging and Visual Resources has a permanent position

This is an opportunity for a photographer with strong skills, sophisticated
judgement, and a sincere interest of Modern and contemporary art to join a
world class imaging team.

If it hasn't already been said, photographing in a shoot-down copystand

Dan,
Thanks for posting the link. This is a useful matrix for evaluating where a
DAM project stands, where it needs to go, and for helping to identify next
steps. It comes along at just the right time for my meeting next Monday
morning!

Hello Jeanne Kessler
I'd like you to consider NetXposure
MoMA is using NetXposure.
I think Billy?s suggestion of creating a DAM group within MCN is a great one
and I am sure there would be similar interest among my MoMA colleagues.

MoMA is using NetXposure Image Portal http://www.netx.net/
It is SQL based and browser accessed. After much internal work, our database
administrator has it nicely plumbed to TMS.
Our DAM currently holds 60,000 images of collection objects and we are now
beginning to load another 18,000
I?ll leave it to the archivists to help Will with his cataloging
terminology. But with regard to ?reversal film?, the term is normally used
in imaging to refer to a positive transparency (eg: Kodachrome, Ektachrome,
etc.) rather than a negative.

Interesting thread.
Our current solution to the issues below is to capture a Macbeth Color
Checker within every shot and save that file as DNG. We then convert to
TIFF, crop away the captured color checker, do our visual editing tweaks,
and insert an electronically generated ?perfect? Macbeth

One possibility (of many) you may want to investigate is NetExposure Image

While underscoring Deb and John?s emphasis on starting with a system needs

with TMS is NetXposure?s Image Portal. However considerable in-house IT work
is required to build good functionality between the 2 systems.
