Allan - Before you buy anything or try to repair the amp first measure the resistance of the pickup coil. If you unscrew the amplifier you then measure the resistance between pins 7 9, if I remember correctly. The resistance should be fairly low like 200 ohms, again from memory. My pickup coil

I blew that fuse about every 6 months in my 300D. All instrumentation and directional signals would go out. I think the brake lights are on it too, which makes it really fairly dangerous to lose. Anyway, I did nothing but keep replacing it, and maybe the last replacement fuse was just by chance
