My 78 240D w/AT and AC is ok except when starting from a stoplight. I usually turn the AC off until I get rolling. Fixing the bushing in the AT control rod transformed it - after ~30 years all bushings and rubber parts should be looked at suspiciously. If I lived where it's hilly I believe
