I am not certain how they differ, but my 1974 240D is an excellent
highway car. Fuel economy is impressive, and it gets up and cruises
all day at 75mph with no problems. It also has very little wind
noise, and feels very stable. When climbing
I loved driving my 220D (1970) on the highway. I think I got around 30
MPG. I think the 115 is a better highway driver than the 123 series -
the 107 shares a lot of the suspension.
I think mine had power steering. The AC was after market, and I
removed it to gain better access to the alternator.

Are you sure it is not overflow from refueling. The overflow hose runs
out the bottom. Notice the small hole in the bottom of the refueling
area behind the gas flap. It connects to a drain hose.

The passenger side wiper does not move on the 75 240D. The shaft does not

My '76 300D owners manual lists disk wheels for both the 240D and the 300D with:
5 ½ X 14 with 175 SR 14 tires on the 240D and 6 X 14 with 185 HR 14
tires on the 300D. The exploded view parts book also only shows steel
wheels.
The EPC doesn't list the option codes for my old car, and only shows

I could have sworn that they were all alloys, and some were in the
Bundt shape, and others looked like standard wheels and came with
hubcaps. Reason I thought they were all alloy was because they felt
so light compared to my 14 steel wheels on my Civic.
