Ralph, What you need is a shop that has the wiring diagrams for your car, and as Dan said a DC Voltmeter, and then the skill to combine both in order to perform some tests and determine the problem. An MB (or European) specialist should be faster (less shop time, maybe less $$$) because they

There is nothing specialized about the system on this car that would require unique or unusual equipment. Any come tent AC shop can work on it if they are willing. If this is for your SDL then there is no evaporator cutoff switch as I previously described - that would be present in your W123

Pretty easy, acutally. Check for voltage at the low pressure switch and a ground on one side -- the PBCU grounds the signal from the Klima relay to switch the compressor on. If you have voltage and a ground, the relay is bad (usually cracked solder on the actual relay) OR the low

Ralph, Since they were poking around in the vicinity of the heater box where your blower motor is located, I would take a look at the compressor cut out switch that's located on the heater box. It's a thermal switch with a capillary tube that extends into the heater/evaporator box. If you

+1 Max beat me to it, and said it well. On my cars, KLIMA has always been the failure. There is a place in FL who sells rebuilt Klima relays. You can pull the klime and jump two terminals in the socket to test if this is the problem. I use 12 ga solid copper house wire for making the

Assuming this is the SDL. Sounds like the serpentine belt saving feature, which cuts the compressor clutch power signal, is the issue. In the KLIMA relay, the circuitry compares the compressor speed (from a sensor on the back of the compressor) to the engine speed, and if they are too far

There is a very specific ordered and detailed yet simple test for checking this in the manual. If your shop has no clue what the cause is then they have no clue. Is this the same shop that reversed the wiring? To answer your question the problem is most likely the klima relay, could be the

This is definitely mold and not dust. Notice the mold on the "sides" of the seats, dust would not hang there. Also, why say less than 110K when the speedo shows 112K + miles? It's probably been stored under a tarp or cover that caused it to collect moisture and thus the mold. It is humid here
