I would doubt 040 was coated, as I found that it is not coated on the 300SE W140. I had to do a severe scuff coat (green pad, then 1000 thru 5000 grit) to deal with pine sap eating through the paint. Compound and polish to get the shine back. #1 boy sort of burnt through while buffing the
