I'm quite sure that something has decreased it. Perhaps it is my vile temper.

I should think it is a waste of time reporting these types to ebay,
impossible to track and most likely originating in Nigeria.

But you are right, the only way to make sure

A second chance offer from an item that did not make the reserve is

My understanding is that the highest bidder in an unreserved auction is

Perhaps ebay should have a system in place where the reserve can be
lowered by the consent of the seller and the highest bidder. Sort of
like giving you the ability to send the highest bidder a revised auction
with a lowered reserve, if the buyer accepts he/she will have the

Anyhow I am suspicious that some unscrupulous ebayers are using the
second chance offer system to stick it to the buying public. Bidding up
their item and then when they end up the winner, due to greed, send out
second chance offers to try and sell the item.

Actually, they do -- if it isn't in your eBay messages, it's fake.
I've gotten several things on Second Chance offers, but they were all
legit (things I'd bid on and not won).
Report them to eBay as spam.

If you get a second chance offer, contact the original seller through
ebay and find out if it's legit. Most of the time it's scammers that go
behind hot auctions like vultures and hit everyone on the bidder list.,
if it really is from the seller, you're good to go.

Happens all the time. Something I List doesn't meet the Reserve but
the highest bidder was close enough. I will then make a second offer
to that bidder through Ebay.
Anything out of the Ebay system should be ignored.
