As Marshall would say - always replace the fuse.
Sometimes that aluminum strip fuse looks fine, but crumbles
when you unscrew the terminals.

You should make it proud by purchasing and mounting a high mileage
radiator
badge from
Good point. I'll do that prior to replacing the relay.

That's the relay's way of telling you that the glow plugs don't all draw
the same current. Last time it happened to me ('79 300SD) the plugs were
good but the battery was weak. Put in a new group 49 and the light stayed

but I'm working through a local shop. I'll try the relay first - looks like it
might be within my limited skill set.

Low probability solution, but the cheapest one:
Replace the light bulb. (does it blink on and go out, or does it never
come on?)
If the glow plugs get current, I wouldn't replace the relay, or anything
else more expensive than a glow plug, I'd just
GP's are all new, but three have gone out in a few months and have

I'm confused. The GP's are only a few months old and you've already
lost three of them? (Are they Monarks? :-) It sounds like your
GP relay might be powering the GP's when the engine is running,
or you have

power at the glow plugs and the dash light? I would check those things
as a start. Also check if you get power at one or both poles of the fuse
