That might have been a meaningful question with my S420, but with most of the
cars I've owned,
the answer would have been 'another car'.

I give proper lip service to the ballot box.
All the points you raise is exactly why arms and ammunition sales have set
new records each week since 20 Jan 2008. In the midst of the worst
financial depression since 1928, when Citizens have less disposable
wealth... they are voting with their wallet

On the 110/111 i could release the hood from underneath with a stick.
Never had to try this on a 123/124/126 so don't know if it can work.

With great care and a stout jeweler's screwdriver you can
pop the hood on a 107, no damage. The PO did this on our
for-sale SL. Took him quite awhile. My first act was to
hook a coathanger wire to the release lever. Having that
big semi-open circle in the middle was key, I believe.

Larry,
I'm skeptical that you can get it open going through the grill, I'm going
to take a look at my '95 and see what it looks like. I remember examining

Once macgyvered some wire around the hood latch through the grill insert after
busting the latch pull. Or maybe I pryed with a long screwdriver. Whatever. It
was possible to do without damaging/removing anything.

Darren, which car? Does hood latch mean the handle that pops out of the grill
after the inside hood release is pulled?
Running a piece of wire around the base of the lever may allow Larry to release
the hood by pulling the wire toward the passenger side of the car.
