The lowest we've recorded this week is 2°F. The geothermal unit is keeping
us nice and warm, it is cycling so it is not at capacity. I have the

My gas bill at the Flagstaff house is laughable. I don’t know why, but I’m not
complaining. Gas furnace, range, demand hot water heater, dryer. Last month it
was $82. That’s with 2-1/2 adults (the person living in the casita uses the
dryer, but heat is a mini-split.)
The electric bill is
I was having an intermittent fault on one of my mini-split outdoor units for a
bad thermistor which was shutting it down. I had ordered parts ages ago but
procrastination…. So it faulted yesterday after running for 3 or 4 days fine so
I figured it was time… thankfully it has run well since then
In typically winter weather here I don’t recall seeing a bill over 300 in one
month during the coldest part of the year. It has seemed cheaper to me with a
heat pump versus a regular AC and gas furnace. I would hate to see a gas bill
in the winter now with natural gas prices way up like they
I meant to mention that the mini-splits I had installed at the Flagstaff house
are rated at above 90% efficiency down to -4F. We had single digit temps there
last week, so I checked in to make sure all was well and everyone reported they
were working fine and making plenty of heat.

Right now it is finally up to 11. Supposed to get up to 25 today. Most of the
