Re: [MBZ] This is sort of interesting due to the white on red

2017-05-07 Thread Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes
So when I was looking for my first car we went to this guy who owned a body
shop that did paint and body work for big trucks and semis. He was also into
MB. He had a 74 240d manny that was burgundy with a brand new paint job, very
nice car. The other car he had was a white on red 76 300d. The next car we went
to look at was a green on green 76 300d. Lord I wish I would have bought that
car. The 3rd car that I ended up buying was a 79 240d in Colorado beige. So,
that is why I have a soft spot for green on green, white on red, and an early
123 240d in Colorado beige.

Back to the truck body guy. He had a mini mb grave yard behind the body shop
that may have contributed to me wanting to acquire parts cars. Several years
after that I bought a vacuum pump off him for my grandmothers 240d. Many years
after that I was there while working with Autotrader because they were listing
some cars in the magazine to sell. It was the son running it then, told him
about me dealing with his dad years earlier. Last time I was that way the shop
is something else and no mb grave yard in the back.

So like poos has his bucket list cars, mine are green on green and white on red
115, and a Colorado beige early 123.

You are saying a 220 is the lesser of 2 evils of a w210 diesel? I hate to say
it but you must have had a long night of hookers and blow. I have own a 97
diesel that is pushing close to 400k miles, and 98 turbo that is at about 220k.
Yes they are not as high quality as a 124 but they are still very good cars,
much better than the troublesome 220 chassis. All of the issues listed below
are things that could happen. A list of things that could happen to a 124 is
probably longer. A list of things that could happen on a 220 is probably a mile
long.

You know instead of ripping that all out I may try and get some flashing and
insert it up under the shingles along the end he to raise up the dip and
overhang the gutters a bit. I would really like to get those lead guard gutters
and let them do the whole thing, but that is probably way more than I want to

2017-05-06 Thread Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes
The socket is e12. It was a whore of a job getting them off. These things have
to be on just right or you will strip it or it flys off the bolt head. I have
several scraped knuckles after this job. They have lock tight applied to the
bolts, so you have to use a long breaker bar to break them loose and continue
loosening them. The axle boots are in the way of the ratchet causing it to want
to slip off the bolt. You can't use an extension to clear the boots because
when you try to apply all that pressure it wants to come off the bolt. Just now
removed the last of the 12 bolts. 3 more hex bolts and it's out

Well you made a big mistake not draining the tank, disconnecting and blowing
out the fuel lines font to back, replacing fuel filter. If the pumps were
working you just flushed crap from the tank and lines into the fuel

do you see rust?

Unless they ran it till it was completely dry then it was bound to have some

[MBZ] More 140 adventures.

2017-09-09 Thread Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes
So after working for several hours getting the 140 ready to go again, after
working on it I parked it in the driveway behind the kid who blew up his w210
2012 Jeep he now has a bit payment on. The wife and I were heading to town in
it to make sure it did not catch on fire again and I pulled into the gas
station. As I am washing the windshield with the squeegee, I head the aux fan
kick in and it's sounding bad. I look around to the front to see it has been
backed into and the grille/hood is pushed in at the bottom. He apparently
backed into it because he did not see it there. He did not think it did any
damage and went about his business he says. So it's pushed in and I assume the
hood is buckled a little bit or something as the passenger side will not
release now and I can't get the hood open. This is just great. This kid does
not need to be behind the wheel of anything other than maybe a bicycle.

2017-09-09 Thread Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes
Nope grandma did. Not my problem. I made it perfectly clear I was done with
cars involving the kid and am out of the loop on this deal. Personally I think
it was stupid to go out and spend $13k on a car for a 19 year old who tears
cars up but whatever.

I don't know much about BMW but that seems to have at least 2 extra zeros on
