I have not ran into any issues with them. I have a couple of the grey ones and 
2-3 of the old orange ones and they are fine. Although I don’t use the that 
often anymore now that I have 2 lifts.

I don’t get these people. He mentioned it being well maintained, my first 
question was if he had any service records/history. Next question was asking if 
it needed any repairs or had any mechanical issues. My meaning was beyond the 
dead AC the ad mentioned. 3rd was if he has additional photos or video he could 
send.  He simply responded that the AC needed to be charged. I replied back 
asking about service history. No response.

[MBZ] I think one of my Poos camera has partially died

The one out on the shop the wife said the spot light was going on and off a 
while back when it should not. Battery then started running down to where 
camera would shut off. I think that was partially due to the time of year and 
sun exposure but it’s now built back up to 35%. Today I am noticing when 
viewing the camera the flood light does not come on at all anymore. In 
addition, it no longer seems to register movement at all.  It will view live 
but that appears to be it.

[MBZ] Ebay seller trying to screw me

I bought a HP Z4 which arrived and stops responding after it has turned 
the screen off unless you hit control alt delete, and menu items not 
visible randomly.  Contacted seller who eventually sent me a jpg of a 
fedex return label, that when printed is blurry.  Having a bad feeling 
about just trying to use this blurry label and sending item back without 
a ebay return case opened, I went ahead and opened a case.  Seller 
attached a pdf label to the case which prints fine and I sent it back.  
Last Friday after checking the status of the case, I see it is still 
showing not shipped.  Wrong, item was actually delivered last Friday.  
It was then I notice he attached a label with a different "from" name 
and tracking info that what he provided in the case.  In other words, it 
appears he attached a label from a different return case from a 
different buyer which I did not notice when I printed it.


I contacted seller over the weekend who then replied Monday that return 
would be processed.  Having heard nothing I contacted him yesterday for 
updates.  Seller claims they have not received the item.  I sent him 
screen shots out of ebay clearly showing the return case, the label they 
provided, as well as a direct link to the tracking that shows it was 
delivered and signed for.  He responded saying he sent me the correct 
label and said I used a label from a previous purchase from last month.  
I have never purchased from him.  He sent me screen shots showing the 
buyers info of a different return which is clearly not me.  I responded 
again with screen shots showing what was sent to me.  Regardless of what 
label was used, the item was delivered and signed for, and inside the 
box would have been the packing slip with all of the correct order 
information.  In the meantime, ebay has closed the return case as of 
this morning because item was supposedly never shipped.


I guess I will give them until Monday to respond and take care of the 
issue, or else my only remaining option would be to leave negative 
feedback and try opening a case with Paypal.   I guess I should ship him 
a box using the original blurry jpg label with some random crap it in.

[MBZ] Can someone explain this mentality?

I travel a lot and have noticed recently at hotels, restaurants, basically 
anywhere with a parking lot, people seem to back into the parking stop instead 
of just pulling in. This seems to be especially true with pickup trucks and big 
SUVs. What’s the deal? I think it’s stupid as crap and my theory is these 
people don’t know how to properly back out of their spot when they go to leave. 
It sometimes makes it difficult for others who are pulling in correctly in 
their spot to back out. When trying to park, I often have to sit there and wait 
as some idiot has the isle blocked while attempting to back their big ‘ol truck 
in instead of just pulling the damn thing in.

[MBZ] My expensive HF air powered vacuum oil extractor crapped the bed?

Yesterday while using it to such up oil and such from the valley of the 642, it 
sorted if seemed like it was intermittent not sucking. I did not think a whole 
lot about not it until it stopped sucking all together. I figured maybe 
something got sucked up and stuck in the hose so I disconnected it. No sucking 
directly out of the hole where the hose goes. I thought this was a pretty 
simple concept but what could be wrong? It’s got a deal that screws on the 
opposite of the air inlet that I assume generates the vacuum. Any ideas? I 
noticed these things are now $200 but im sure I didn’t pay that much for it.

[MBZ] Starting to clean this 642

[Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes]

Removed the belt to clean the front of the engine. Hosed it down with engine 
degreaser then hit it with brake cleaner. I figured the brake cleaner would 
just blast it off. Not so. Still have lots of grease in all the nooks and 
crannies on the front. I wiped down what I can get to but lots of areas I can’t 
really. I would love to power wash it but it’s in the shop so that won’t work. 

Anyone have any ideas? Thought about buying a steak cleaner but will that blast 
the crap off or will it it just loosen in and it’s still going to have to be 
wiped off?

Looked at this car a while back. Guy was on crack and wanted at least $2k for 
it but but would never give me an exact price. Every body seal was rotten and 
no doubt leaking water, had rust starting, main wiring harness completely 
chewed thru by rats. I would have gone maybe $6-800 on it maybe, which was 
reasonable.

There actually appear to be a fair number of potential cars I see. There are

That stinks, but it can and does work. FedEx has similar policies, and
when they packed and later crushed a Mac Pro in Apple factory packaging
that was sent to me, the buddy who sold it to me had to file the claim.

In my case the seller has dropped off the face of the earth ...

by feel.

Well at the BIN price it would be a couple grand, which aside from the

It’s been many years but is it just me, diesel seemed like it used to smell 
much more potent when being pumped back in the old days than it does now. 
Probably because of the sulfur being removed. Seemed like mileage was better

[MBZ] An question to start an oil debate

[Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes]

In looking thru the manuals on this 123, the manual shows 15w40 good down to 23 
where as later and I believe current oil charts show it good down to 5 IIRC. 
Why such a big difference from back in the old days? Is 15w40 today that much 
better and can be used at lower temps than 15w40 from 40 years ago?
