One time I was sitting at a stop light in the left lane, a Pontiac 6000 came up behind me, changed lanes and stopped beside me. It was a diesel. When the light turned green, I gave it enough gas to easily put dad's Ciera away. It jumped in front of me, slammed on the brakes and turned left, exactly the maneuver I anticipated and tried to block. So they could be much faster than a 240d, but ours was not. The rebuilt IP changed performance not in the slightest. I think road tests were around 16s 0-60. Nice! I need to get off my rear end and fix the no-start problem on my '95 wagon. Warm air quickly: I plug in the block heater on a timer, so it starts heating the coolant at least 30 minutes before I start driving. Nice toasty air within a few minutes if not instantly. Re: [MBZ] Actually worked on a Benz today
Mostly short trips in the Golf? Angie's '03 makes plenty of heat but not for the first couple miles. My '15 makes excellent heat and pretty quick but I think its got the extra injector running to heat the engine up faster. Fuel economy suffers in the winter, even worse than you'd otherwise expect. My '98 had good heat but took a long time to get there, like 5-6 miles of driving before even a whiff of heat would come out. It took a good half hour before that engine was all the way warmed up and pumping out heat. Fortunately the cabin was pretty small so it warmed up pretty quick. -Curt On Sunday, November 29, 2020, 6:34:58 PM EST, Peter Frederick via Mercedes wrote: At long last I replaced the coil in the TE, wanted to some time back but my friend Hans talked me out of it, he suspected fuel injectors instead to account for the rough idle and other assorted ills, including difficulty setting the mixture on the KE-Jet.
