Hi,

I uninstalled Mnemosyne, I installed vc_redist.x64.exe and vc_redist.x86.exe, I 
installed Mnemosyne and when a started Mnemosyne windows remains black ... what 
can be wrong?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145, and then 
installing Mnemosyne again.

What OS do you have? Note that older OSes like XP or Vista are no longer 
supported.

Hi,

You're replying to a very old thread. First of all, make sure you using the 
latest version of Mnemosyne, preferably this one:

Also try renaming your Mnemosyne directory (where config.db is stored) to e.g. 
Mnemosyne.off, so that you can see what happens on a fresh install.

I expected same problem, I installed mnemosyne but I can't start the program, I 
received "Unable to load file, query failed". I deleted config.db and config.py 
but this don't solve the problem. Where is "___TMP___.db"?

when I delete the folder  /sdcard/Mnemosyne/, Mnemosyne on the PC displays: 
"Sending media files..." 
The phone displays right after clicking "sync" (no time delay): "Could not 
connect to server"

Apparently I have tried this before. This is the error, I could not reproduce.

I am sorry for manually copying the files to my phone, I've done this, because 
I could not sync the normal way. I hope this will not break my database, for 
the worst case I still have a backup of the old database.

I'll be absent until this evening, so don't expect a quick response.

Hi,

Please don't manually copy databases around. What happens if you delete 
/sdcard/Mnemosyne and then do a sync?

If the initial sync takes a long time, make sure the phone does not go to sleep 
during that process, e.g. by tapping the screen from time to time. A future 
version will keep the phone awake.

separate thread on this with the exact error message.

I’m very happy to try and fix all of people’s bugs, but I need your feedback of 
course. Just hoping that an issue will magically solve itself is not the most 
efficient way ☺

the recent release of Mnemosyne seems to be buggy. Try the prerelease version 
of Mnemosyne. I've had a similar problem too, but when I use the prerelease 
version, I can import and export cards like before. The syncing with my cell 
phone still doesn't work.

Or else, if you want to have your previous working version of Mnemosyne, you 
can download it from Sourceforge. Make sure to  uninstall Mnemosyne from your 
PC and cell phone before you install the old version (uninstalling will not 
delete your data, don't worry!).

Before you try the above, search for the backups Mnemosyne automatically 
creates. Just search for a folder called Mnemosyne, which contains the file 
"default.db" (I don't remember the exact location). If this folder exists 
either on your phone or PC you should be able to restore your cards and 
statistics.
