I’ve had a few of both version of the 10.5x13.5 ones over the years and yes the
frames are very fragile and hard to find in great condition. I have one that I
upgraded to a better condition that I’ll be posting the old one on ebay soon.

much for it as it had a crack in it so not much of value anyhow.

Having a look at the prices fetched in the recent HA auction I notice that
quite a few don't make minimum estimate bids - overvalued, lack of interest
or decline in the market?

I watched the auction. It felt like there were not that many people
participating live as in the past. But that’s a guess. It also seemed
that people were selective on what got a lot of attention. And their
definitely were a few items that did very very well. It will be

So what? Some items fetched high prices, but there were still a number
which were unexpectedly low, certainly in the lower ranges. Just wondering
if MOPOers have any ideas as to why that should be so.

One might pick out specific items that sold lower but generally speaking $1.6mm
was a good auction and no, there were no less bidders participating if our

This amounts to a general value of around $1600 per poster.

We have had this discussion several times. People tend to collect
memories and mostly during their middle age period from 40-60 years old.
These days, stuff from the 1960s and earlier are before they were born, so
they can only relate to a few timeless classics. 80s and 90s are red hot
now.
I’m probably the youngest one on here and I too would be curious to see what’s
the demographics are in buying certain years of memorabilia. Having dealt with
a lot of the major buyers over the last 20 years in collecting Kubrick, I am
starting to see several of those people start to liquidate,
Obviously I would expect you to defend the auction prices, Grey, and there
is no doubting that as a whole it was probably a very successful auction
for you, with some high prices over estimate. I am not raising the matter
of lower bids in an effort to denigrate the auction, but I was not 'picking
I would like to offer that I decided not to bid on the two posters I was
most interested in. I am quite certain they sold for less than had I
participated. In fact, the prices I saw were in what I would consider my
acceptable range. Had I bid I know I would have paid more than I really
wanted to
