I have had a breeding pair that have been in my yard for several years.

I visited the Big Bog SRA yesterday. Although nothing unexpected was
found, I saw or mostly heard some good birds. See the eBird list below.
And for a change it was a sunny morning with fairly mild weather. Very
pleasant in the bog with no mosquitoes as yet.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak was unheard of up here and we still had lots of
Evening Grosbeaks around.
I also have 2 male and 2 female Baltimore Orioles enjoying my oranges and

On the way up along Hwy. 72, we pulled over to listen for Connecticut
Warblers and a Northern Goshawk flew across the road right in front of the
car.

Baltimore Orioles, and 6 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks today, 5
of which were males. There must be at least 30 American Goldfinches at the
thistle feeders, then throw in the Blue Jays, and 4 Woodpecker species and
it has been a colorful yard today!

This morning we got to see that beautiful Long-tailed Jaeger in Marshall Co.
We observed it for about 20 minutes from 11:40 - 12:00 noon. It was sitting on
the gravel road when we drove up. Then we watched as it dipped and soared over
the surrounding fields for about 15 minutes. What a
their southward journey??
One unrelated question on Yellow Rails: Would they still be calling in July?

Yesterday and today I have counted over 50 Pine Siskins at our 3 thistle
feeders. Last year we had only 1 siskin all summer.
The Red-bellied Woodpeckers are back for the 4th year in a row. I guess they
have learned to like the North Country.

DIVUnfortunately we didn't find any of the previously reported

road. As we drove slowly up to it, it just stayed perched and stared at us,
until we were parallel to it and about 15 feet away. And doggone it, I forgot
my digital camera today!!
We also had a very cooperative Connecticut Warbler along the same road.
