Now that the campaigns are over, is there a way to do something about
the lousy shape that our schools are in? As an active public school
parent, I know that there is too much administrative expense in the Mpls
budget -- such as the so-called Area Superintendants -- but even so, if

The JADT proposal for redevelopment of the Riverview Supper Club site is the
unfortunate result of a badly flawed process for the development and
implementation of the Above the Falls Plan for the upper river corridor.

Training on COMMUNITY-ORIENTED POLICING
Community-oriented policing has been hailed as a new approach to
crime-fighting that builds partnerships between the community and the
police and aims to proactively solve problems before they occur.

Thank you to Eva, Karen, Wizard, and Eric for your

First off I must admitt that there were some mistakes
in my last statment, which was sent out very late and

But it was great fun--talked to people all over the city, got to just about

The mood at North Country Co-op this morning was very
somber. They missed their usual Somali customers, who
were not there because the exchange place in the same

Downtown Target Report, Month 2:
Still not many shoppers in the evening. Lots of staff. Unattended carts
whisked away faster than at the airport. A few kids this time. One mom,
trying to do the groovy shopping cart escalator thing, just put the cart,

After reading all the posts about which party won how many seats, I felt I
must write to clear up the perception that RT Rybak was a DFL candidate for
mayor. You'll have to put his win in the Independent column - at least that

Tim's message reminded me that I was fairly blown away when I compared
numbers of my last election and realized that the numbers this time were
only slightly higher than my first election in 1989 and I mean slightly.
This was amazing since my campaign this year had figured I would need more

Two days after her defeat, mayor drops $6 million HRA levy in deference

I have heard that Mayor-Elect Rybak wants to go with a 24-Hour snowplowing system. Does anyone know how this will work? Also, I recall former Council Member Steve Minn had suggested a different method of snow
My opponent worked very hard to get elected and I think she ran a good campaign. I was outspent and if someone would post the actual numbers that would be helpful. I think Brian Melendez misses my point about money and politics. Did Michael Bloomberg in N.Y.C spend 50 million of his own money to ou
I wish good luck to R.T., as one of the many "fringe" mayoral candidates
during the primary, it was nice to meet him during one of the debates that
all the candidates were invited to. I support alot of the same issues. It
will be nice to have fresh faces in city hall who are open to ideas.

Title: Turnout
I was both surprised and not surprised by the turn out numbers on Tuesday. The 20 point poll on Saturday probably did the most damage to turnout, keeping soft SSB support at home. I did a search on the Strib and found that in the days before the Carlson-SSB election the spread
Plenty about Rybak, but lots of council stuff too. Gary Schiff calls for
the unanimous approval of Paul Ostrow as council president.
