Any chance you've got the coil /or plug wires reversed on those two
cylinders?

Here's one that's got me scratching my head. I just started work on a 550
Nighthawk. I cleaned the carbs before trying to run it although the PO had it
running and I was there with him. Now with the carbs back on it runs on 1 and
4 but #'s 2 3 are just flooding. The gas is going straight

Has anyone had personal experience interchanging the generator and voltage
regulator between a '83 550SC and a CB650SC (1983-85)? A friend has a nice 550
Nighthawk but the system isn't charging. 550 generators are scarce but the
650SC's are plentiful, Graham

Hi guys,
This is kind of a long story, spanning roughly a year now.
First, I once owned a 1983 CB550SC that I sold to a family friend, who
for purposes of the story we'll call Bob, for $300 since he was
retired and wanted a bike to putt around town on. As I told Bob up
front, the bike had (what I
I would try to do the compression test myself since it seems to be the
mayor point between trying to fix and just give up to that engine. It is
also important to be specific... what does he means with compression
issues?

While this is 3rd-hand info, I believe the specific issue was that it
was low compression in 2 of the 4 cylinders, in his words almost
none.

Welcome Steve!
Yup, there should be a fair amount of good info on the site, or on Paul's
Nighthawk pages (Hondanighthawks.net).
I'm not strictly a purist, and I love to see custom bikes/cars/trucks, so have
a great time, and POST SOME PICS :) :) :)

Hi,
I'm new to the group and in need of a part for my nighthawk. Over the
past year things have just been break. First were the carbs, an easy
fix. Then the voltage regulator and now the rotor. I pulled the rotor
and it had no magnetic pull to it. Does any one know where i could
find a good rotor
I had the same problem. It might not be the starter. check all connections.
I rebuilt my starter then bought a used one and then discovered that it was
not my starter.( in fact I still have a similiar problem that has to do with
the connection directly above the solenoid.) I replaced the solenoid
The starter ran threw 3 starter rebuilt kits in the last 2 months. I only
hold the starter button down For only 3 seconds. Can anyone help me out. Do
i need a new starter? If i do where do i get one. I don't have the money to
keep it up. Im starting to puch start my bike.
