Thanks Wolfgang,
The insidesection/aftersection options in \setuphead works well. I have

Do you have a example where you use \chapter?
Somebody knows how to do it ?

Hi Robert,
the reference command in notes is \in (for both MkII and MkIV), such as in:
\starttext
\dorecurse{30}{\footnote{Footnote}}

\dorecurse{30}{\footnote{Footnote}}

Like this (and I also agree that footnote/endnote setup is a bit complicated,
but of course the concept is already quite complicated itself):
\setupnotation[endnote][way=bychapter]
\starttext
\chapter{One}
\do
– but I have so many notes

Hi Robert,
I’m not sure I understand your issue. At least, I’m not able to
reproduce it:
\starttext
\dorecurse{500}{\recurselevel\endnote{This is an endnote.} }
\placenotes[endnote]

Could you modify the sample to reproduce you

If the closing parenthesis is on the same line, the plus sign is
misplaced in the last item.
With the previous sample
only way to fix it seems to enable grid composition. I don’t know
whether this might be a bug in ConTeXt.
Many thanks for your help,
Pablo

Ending each line in a proper (e.g. by adding \par to finish the paragraph)
without the misuse the lines environment fixes the problem as well.
