I was driving on Rte. 121 this evening and passed by a large Great Blue Heron
rookery in the large marsh in the northern part of Indian Hill Park. I never
knew it was there and that there was even a rookery in Westchester County.
Pretty neat.

Went to the West Pt. Foundry Preserve today in Cold Spring and had 4 Carolina
Wrens, a Winter Wren, and a House Wren. This is by far the latest/earliest
I've ever had a House Wren in NY, let alone the northeast. Never had a 3 wren
day in winter. Very cool. Also had two Eastern Bluebirds, an

Does anyone know why I'm not seeing any reports on the Orange Co. list via
ABA's sight? I used to see reports all the time and now they're none. Just
wondering. The Hudson-Mohawk list is fine.

Went to try and get some more photos of the grasshopper sparrow at PLayland
Lake but it was not to be. I saw its little Song Sparrow friend but it was
nowhere in sight. It might still be around but not this afternoon.

Drove by the FDR Park in Yorktown Heights today and noticed the resident pair
of eagles is getting ready for the nesting season. Saw them copulating quickly
near the nest and then the male flew off. So cool to have such visible a pair
right along the highway. Gorgeous birds

While making a brief stop at Twin Lakes Co. Park in Eastchester I found a Gray
Catbird and female Eastern Towhee amongst a flock of sparrows. Nice to see the
catbirds around this time of year. It and a mockingbird were feeding on rose
hips.

Went to look for the Grasshopper Sparrow at Playland Lake in Rye this am and
got it right away. Very easy to find. It hung out mostly amongst the picnic
tables and in between them behind the sign for picnic area #4. Barely even
needed binoculars to look at it. Great photo ops. Adorable bird
