I was fortunate enough to be at Captree State Park today when Hugh and
others were around who are much more apt at finding small birds than myself.
Here are a few images I was able to capture:

In pursuit of crossbills this morning I only came across good numbers of
Pine Siskins and American Goldfinches. A few Northern Harriers were seen by
the Nature Center and Red-Breasted Nuthatches were also plentiful. Along
Ocean Bay Parkway an Osprey was spotted perched. Photos of these birds
This morning around 11:30 an Adult Bald Eagle was seen flying over the
Carmans River (in Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge) by Anthony Graves, John
Turner and others.

Around sunrise the Common Ground Dove was spotted near the
green buoy feeding. Further west at Jones Beach I did not see the Northern
Shrike around 8 AM. In the median were American Goldfinches, Pine Siskins,
Red-breasted Nuthatches and at least 1 Sharp-shinned hawk. At the Coast
Guard Station
This morning I came across several birders including Stella Miller and
we proceeded to see 3 cave swallows and I had fleeting views of a
common redpoll at the eastern exit of the parking lot in the median.
Photos of the swallow will be posted later.
