then flew to a snag a few moments later and then again moments later flew up
and out over the pond at roughly 5:15 pm and across the street to cold spring

I saw on E-bird that a black-headed Gull has been seen so I took a walk towards
the parkway bridge if you keep walking from short Beach and am looking at it

A female King Eider, sub adult is mixed in with a flock of common eiders and
long tailed ducks near the jetty if you enter in by the memorial...3 jettys
west of the inlet. Harlequins were perched on rocks the next jetty to the east

eider. Park at memorial, and it's the jetty just to your left when you come out

Walking back along the north side of democrat point at dusk we found about 50
American Oystercatchers and amongst them was one Marbled Godwit, a few photos
obtained, it seems loyal to that flock at one point flying over the the waters
edge with some. 2 Whimbrels were at the point proper

Strangely there are no geese or mallards here, but one ruddy duck, a gadwall or
two, 1 male ring-necked duck, and one male greater scaup to with about 10

Walking into to the mens room at field six at hecksher I accidentally flushed a
drab male Rose-breasted Grosbeak...that's the only flushing I've done as I
never got into the bathroom as this bird is giving some great looks..it likes

Hi All! Right as I was walking the trail back to leave mmsa at closing time I
saw a flock of black bellied whistling ducks land just behind and to the left
of the the osprey nest. I imagine the birds were at the golf course and
something must have spooked them and they all flew into the Marine N
Wilson's Phalarope continues in the west colony beach puddle...2 roseate terns
around there too, Piping Plovers have two or three chicks with them in this

Hi All! The Arctic Tern was just loafing with a few dozen common Terns and one
or two roseate terns on the western colony side. Someone from conservation just
checked a plover nest and the flock just flushed but seems to be returning. No
Wilson's phalarope or black terns present at this time! -K

As of 4:43 PM Tim Healy's Stilt Sandpiper is very content feeding in the west
colony puddle, the big puddle, not the little marshy one west and north of it.
The Black-bellied whistling ducks continue as well..they were in the parking

Both birds showed well, even together in the same photo frame at times, however
if your on your way now those two birds and the flock they are associated with
moved east to the volleyball courts and then north and I lost them around
3:30pm. Finding a sparrow flock of at least ten sparrows with a

Hi all,Just had a Vesper Sparrow not far from the coast guard station...walk
past the bathrooms on the bike path past the sand spit..(4 marbled godwits are
sleeping there) past Short Beach and take the asphalt bike road that goes north
towards the median and it is fraternizing with song sparrows
Vesper sparrow continues in the same spot as yesterday, the bike path east of
short beach has a turn that goes north about 100 yards or so after the coast
guard sand spit... when you make the turn proceed slowly and the Vesper tends

For anyone around the 2 western kingbirds can be found by walking the median
towards the turnaround, making a left where you can see a path that looks like
car tire tracks, about 50% down that path and look east and there is a tall

As of 2:15 PM the golden-crowned sparrow is showing well and spoiling everyone
with great looks. It tends to hang out at the base of the feeder, sometimes
perching in the vegetation, and sometimes stays in cover for a little while,

Hi all, I've walked down to almost the bridge after not seeing the black headed
gull on the spit ..there wasn't a ton of goals but one of them happens to be
the Black Headed Gull which is feeding where the water meets the shore and
flying about 30 to 50 yards at a time getting closer to the spit
The black headed gull is feeding at the tip of the sand spit at short beach
