my advice is, don't rely on official tags like stable or unstable.
download each version and do your testing with your application(s). during
the past 2 years of working with orion sometimes the more serious bugs were
in stable sometimes in unstable versions.

That's what I do :). The only thing you might need to worry about is that
the data in the security table changes after you load up the hash map. What
I usually do is if the user is not found I reload the map and try one more
time.

you're getting that second error. Fix the start process, then you should be
fine. To test that Orion did not start, just hit it via local host or
something and see if it responds. You should get connection refused.

You can't insert large data into Oracle directly. If you want to use a CLOB
to store your large amount of data you CAN do it with a bean, but you have
to use some of the procedures imbeded in Oracle to deal with LOB data. An
example would be something like this:

The signature for ejbCreate is the same for CMP and BMP. The idea is that
you should be able to subclass a CMP bean to make it BMP. ie. vendors can
ship beans designed to work with CMP but when that's too inflexible you can

We're using Oracle Reports Server on UNIX with Orion. Oracle Reports
requires an X-Windows session on UNIX platforms. Basic inquiries such as
font availability and font metrics are resolved through X-Windows, not just
rasterization of graphic images. Reports is a bitmapped product and needs

you can afford that approach, of course). if you cannot live without that
extra bit of security, you'll have to spend a heck of a lot more money for
similar features. it's a trade-off but don't bet on anything happening at
ironflare that hasn't happened yet.

I think to do this you would need to have an index.jsp and configured
web.xml's "Welcome.." entry to recognise it.
Then simply forward or redirect within index.jsp.

If you know what you are doing and you can live with the cosequences you
can always disable the pass-by-value semantics on a per-ejb basis. Look at
the orion-ejb-jar.xml dtd.

and servlets? A stateless session bean can cache non conversational state
right? Can't he use a singleton from within a stateless session bean for
