I have heard this said to women by some Dr's,
however not all. Usual practice is to do gastric aspirate ear swab on baby
and check temps for 48 hours. And many women do refuse antibiotics for
themselves and their babies - with encouragement from their midwives

I thought RN's couldn't work on labour ward because of insurance?
At KEMH even agency midwives (excluding Nurse West) cannot work on labour

unfortunately I haven't had any help with my mission to try to stop women
having to measure their urine for 24 hours post delivery. I have managed to
pull some research from MIDIRS, but I'm at a loss as how to proceed with
writing a policy. Will battle on though,
