hi
I've sort of been helping Lynn solve this issue and i mentioned the
20 db boost, but it doesn't seem to be in the same place as mine
I have checked every single setting I can think, and a few other
places recommended to me by folks on this list, including the system
tray volume control, but the mic boost remains elusive. I am very
familiar with the location of the mic boost setting, as I had it on a
former PC and changed it
Are you using the recording level for the microphone and not the playback
level?

Hi,
This is probally something you did, but did you remember to turn on the 20db
gain boost? On my old machine, there was no such option, so I didn't know
about it and it took me a little poaking around. You've probally done that,
but just thought I'd mention it.

Hi Rick. When I go into the volume control, there is an advanced
button next to the microphone, but the only thing in there is a check
box for monitoring, which is checked, but nothing about the boost
like I had on the old PC. I'm guessing that this sound card just
isn't good for recording,

I've got a SB Live!Audigy 2, and the 20 db boost checkbox is there,
but only after you press the advanced buttton in playback controls
for the microphone.
Hi,
What reasearch have you done that shows the sb live usb to be a bad card for
recording?

Ok, so my big question is, and I'm sure Lynn's asking
Hi.
I have this problem on my laptop. I solved it by buying a microphone that
you put batteries in. It does quite well with volume level. I do get CPU
noise, but I think that's due to the sound card I'm using. I got it from
Radio Shack. It cost me somewhere around $25. Battery life is
