USB Sound Card question

How does one hear what is coming through a USB soundcard? Must you plug in another set of speakers into the soundcard? the reason I ask is that I have a USB Logitech Microphone, and when I use it, I don't hear anything coming through the speakers that are hooked up to the computer soundcard

Hi Gang: I recently tested a USB Audigy soundcard on Windows XP using JFW and found that I was getting the same clicking affect that was prevelent with the SoundBlaster live card. Is this a known issue? Can someone recommend a good soundcard to use for jaws and voice over IP applications? I
