Depends on how the microphone is connected to your system. If you're using
a mixer, make sure the line in box in the recording options under your
sounds tab in the control panel is checked. If you're using the microphone
input, make sure that is checked. Only one should be checked at a time,

back. If you have your sound card set to digital output only, you will get
that noise on some computers. It happened on my gateway. Just a thought!

Instead of recording through total recorder, you might record using your
sound card. You can make this change in the recording settings in your
sounds and audio devices tab in the control pannel using windows XP. I
believe it's just called sounds in windows versions prior to XP. If You're
