When I run Xpostfacto on my copy of 10.0.3 and install it on my only hard
drive everything seems to work until I get to the rebooting process. When
we start up I get the good system icon and then it hangs for about 3 minutes
and turns into a broken system folder.
When I have booted in Verbose
I have finally got my copy of OS X 10.1 update. I removed the CheckforOSX
file from the disk image I created but I can not burn a bootable CD. It
says, in toast that I do not have a bootable system folder. Someone
mentioned using Disk Copy to burn the CD but I do not see an option for
burning
1. I want to have three partitions on my 7300's hard drive.
A. Mac OS 9.2.2
B. Mac OS X 10.1.5
C. Norton Utilities with a system folder.
Will this work? Is there anything I should know about installing OS X
before I do so?

I really don't know what to think because this 7300 with a G3/450 Mhz
processor is slower than my 4400 with a G3/320 Mhz in everything it does and
it always seems the hard drive is the main culprit with reads and writes and

To run the 9.2 on a none new machine aka G3 and up you have to change the
gestalt number via macwannbe to say the 510 which is one of the new G3's.
Though that may be right for getting the installer to work. Once you reboot
on a pre G3 machine it will tell you that you can not run this OS

drive but I do not now how to interpret all of it. I am going to type down
some of the stuff I see in hopes that someone can tell me about this drive
and whether or not to upgrade it if not only for its size.

Are there any differences between the two besides one being a processor
upgrade and the other being installed in the Cache slot.
The reason I am asking is that I have an Ibot web cam and I use it on my

I know that 9.2.2 will not boot directly on a G3 enhanced 7300. Will 9.2.2

As I was reading on the Sonnet page. If you use there OS X installer
program you must use the program installer under OS 9.1 to install OS X.
They say that OS 9.2.x is not compatible with a 7300 upgraded with a G3 or

Maybe I'm not getting the question but I've changed scsi drives in my 7300
with no problem, no the power connection and scsi connection may be a tight
fit, but I've never had a problem.

BUT... if you don't like SCSI IDs, you aren't a speed demon, and you
want to save a few bucks, I suggest getting an ATA card and a large
ATA hard drive. The cards are cheap, and so are the drives. I don't

You know what surprised me when I read the 7300 manual about memory was that
the 7300 maxes out at 512 meg and only takes 64 meg dimms. Yet I hear that
the 7300 maxes out at 1 gig and takes upwards of 128 meg dimms.

I have a 4400 with 160 meg of ram and a G3 320 card. I am slowly out
growing my system as I have upgraded to Office 2001 and Photoshop 7 and a
few other new programs. Now that I can open fewer programs at one time and
things are really moving slowly I find I might be in the market
