My first choice: FA*24mm f/2: Wide, sharp fast.
Second: K24 f/2.8: Wide, sharp, small light.
Third: A15/3.5. Lovely lens but not as useful to me as the 24.

immediately. If the items were to be delayed longer than that, then MOST
manufacturers would wait for the PMA

That was my first thought. I put in a new one and it didn't make any difference. The
battery check light on top was lighting up just fine too (it was before I changed
drill and tap it of course.

The late SMCT 135 f2.5 is optically identical to the K series. The K has a
baffle at the lens mount.
The original f2.5 had 5 elements in 4 groups and would 8 primary reflections
when looking through the lens. The later, and best, has 6 elements in 6
groups and would yield 12 reflections.

K to M42 adaptor on a M42 lens.
The genuine Pentax adaptor when mounted on a K body is slightly recessed.

Yes, I'd expect that. There are a lot of strange things when it comes to
cameras. Incorrectly film loading (then shooting 36 exp. on one frame:),
thumb over the lens, you name it (and you see it). It doesn't happen that
way with a VCR, people seem to be able to put in a cassette easy enough.
