This happened to me a couple of months ago when I was photographing a friend's birthday party. Tonight, I was photographing belt tests at the dojo. After the stupid camera tricks during belt tests two nights ago, I made sure that all of my batteries were well charged, and that the Pentax brand

Bipin, The 6 AA batteries I used in my grip were not rechargables. They were good quality, single use NICa's(?), but not lithiums. The reason I picked up the two spare was to change from AA's to another camera battery in the grip. The grip came with two different battery carriers. Regards, Bob S.

Hi Bob, I am with you on the K-5 idiosyncrasies and read about this particular silly battery problem. I also read on the net not to wait for a complete discharge of the battery, but to recharge them when the camera shows half to quarter charge. Li-ion cells do not have the dreaded "memory" effect.
