Nice try Andy, but there is one problem. Like all other Pentax AF cameras,
the back was designed to be thick plastic. I don't see how they could turn
it into a metal back (also the seal) w/o significant modification to the
body itself. Certainly not typical Pentax way. :-)

I am having problems with dust and hair looking bits being visible in both
the viewfinder of my *istD and one of my Z-20's. I have blown them out
with
compressed air, but to with no avail. I am not sure if it is on the mirror
I think the very high strength threadlock from Threebond might do the trick.

Been digging my SMCT Screwmount 500/4.5 a bunch since I've gotten my lens
support issues out of the way.
The biggest
I highly suggest you returned it. Unlike K or M lenses, Limited lenses were
not built to withstand such impact (although they look like M lenses). It is
possible the axis has shifted. Also, FA77 is a dust sucker so don't be
surprised if it is dusty inside.

If your choice is Pentax then the MZ-S might be

near wide open. Still a fine AF lens though.
My personal hunch is that the Nikon or Canon pro grade bodies are
going to be more rugged and better at AF. Much as I love Pentax, for
what you are describing, it may not be the best choice.

I had the A35/2.8 few years ago. It was good lens optically, although not
razer sharp. There are some mechanical optical differences between the M
A so their parts aren't that interchangable. Make sure the aperture spring
of the M is in good condition.

M 85 - M 100 clip on lens hood that I've been using on my
F 70-210 zoom, it worked rather well except that the clips were made out of
mouse hair. I was using

As I have said before, but maybe not recently, MX's were usually bought by
serious photographers. Serious photographers tended to use the heck out of
them. Unlike ME Supers most
Spot meter won't be predictable so practically useless. Centre-weighted is
fine. Not sure about matrix but guess should be fine most of the time. With
MZ-M screen, the Z-1p requires +1/3EV compensation.

If read off a grey card, it was correct. However, since the centre porton is
not predictable, I assume the matix would be affected as well. But I have
found in most cases, matrix matches the centre-weighted reading. If you

A month or two back I mentioned to the list that I had tested the SMC
Pentax-A*
135mm 1:1.8 against the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 125mm F2.5 SL on the

collar anymore with my F*. But it puzzles me that they chose 2x3mm

Actually, you decrease sharpness by using a lens mount to tripod
attachment point.
The shutter, being farther away from the fulcrum (the tripod
head wants to be a pivot point) gives more opportunity for
shutter/mirror bounce to manifest itself

Are you sure that Digital Ice is turned off on the F-2900? I scanned
Kodachrome on my Minolta without problem, and have had no problem with it
and my Canon FS4000. But it does not work well

That piece of plastic (so to the FA* lenses' metal frame) is held by a piece
of high strength double-sided tape. It can peel itself off sometimes,
although rare for non-FA* lenses. If the lens itself is free from any dent,

What's the sharpest normal-range, autofocus, consumer, used zoom I can put
on my ZX-L?
From what I've read, it might be the FA 28-70 f4. Are there others I
should consider instead? What about 3rd-party lenses
piece of metal.
Just remember to test all functions of the lever before you apply the thread

Well, that's what I thought, too. But a couple of posts back, Alan
explained that Peking is in fact the Cantonese name for Beijing. IIRC,
most or many Chinese immigrants to North America (and probably Britain as
well) were Cantonese speaking, so

My wife wants more zoom for her MZ-6 camera. She has a
FAJ28-80 now. Maybe a Sigma/Tamron 28-200(300) is an
option. Any suggestions/warnings or other ideas? The
photos will be for the family album
and eventually shoot
anything serious with slides. Since then, making my own prints make no
sense. And now, the digital era has started...
